In this page, I will try to ease your experience. Since you are using a browser like Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft’s Internet Explorer it is very essential that you are up-to-date with the latest patches and add-ons. Using the latest versions of your browsers will make sure that you are able to experience the web, the way it’s mean to be experienced. Here we go:

Web Browsers:

Mozilla Firefox

Firefox is for sure one of the most used browsers. Firefox is based on Mozilla and has tons of features. It is open-source, meaning everyone can contribute to the development. According to the w3s statistics from December 2007 the #2 used web browser is Firefox(36%).

  • If you want to download, you can do it by going to the Firefox web page
  • To check if you are using the latest version of Firefox go to Help->About Firefox, where you can read your version. The current version is 2.0.0.11.
  • To update Firefox go to Help->Check for updates. If there is a newer version, the browser will tell you and all you need to do is follow the instructions.

Interter Explorer

IE for short, is Microsoft’s own web browser he is holding the #1 spot for usage in the world. He shares more than half of the of the world’s users. Even though a single version is “weaker” than Firefox, if you sum the users from all 3 version(IE 5,6,7) it has around 55% wich makes it the most used browser. As you can see from the statistics, with every passing month, more users are switching to the newer version, currently IE7.

  • You can download Internet Explorer fore free from Microsoft’s home page.
  • To check the version for IE go to About Internet Explorer. My current version is 7.0.5730.11. It might be a bit old, since IE8 is coming “soon”.
  • If you want to update IE you can do it by going to Stat Menu -> Windows Update. Check for updates and if there are any for IE, you can download them from there.

Adobe Acrobad Reader and Portable Document Files (PDF)

After you are done updating the browser, now you need to know something about the web. Even if you are not a guru yourself, you must know about few very important things. In the recent years PDF , made by Adobe, has gained some big popularity. In order for you to be able to view PDF files you must have the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

  1. To download Adobe Reader, go to their download page.
  2. Simply download and install the file. That’s it.

Adobe Flash Player

One of the most important things, as a user of the Internet is the Adobe Flash Player. It allows the browser to correctly displays Flash movies. Flash has been the leading software for web animation and entertainment. For example, take a look at the flash-page of the decade. Or something way different. But in order to watch those movies you must first instal the Flash Player:

  1. Again, go to Adobe web-page or directly visiting the Flash download page.
  2. Download the player from the download button and then install it.
